PTL News

Our school’s 133rd year of continuous operation is now in full swing - our halls are full of chatter and the rooms are filed with curious minds. Also, we have been blessed with several new faculty members to help fulfill our mission: Mr. Tim Gabbert (Principal), Mrs. Louann Stetler (2nd Grade - welcome back!), and Mrs. Ashlyn Morgan (Pre-3). The theme for this year is “Built on the Rock.”

Third Grade (Mr. Sanders) - Our class is working hard in al of their studies. We’ve had several tests already and they’ve done very well.

Second Grade (Mrs. Stetler) - We’re working on our Map Skills in Social Studies and have started learning about plants in science class. Reviewing addition and subtraction is our month’s goal in math class.

First Grade (Mrs. Reed) - We’re working hard on reading and learning many great new words such as: red, blue, look, my, I, big, and see. In Phonics the sounds of the letters B, H, K, M, S, R, and T were reviewed while in Social Studies the oceans are our main topic.

Kindergarten (Miss Jankowiak) - God’s creation of the world has been a major theme in our religion studies. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to help our students with our weekly Kidwriting Journals (please see Miss Jankowiak or Mr. Gabbert to sign up!). The books Mary Wore Her Red Dress and The Wheels on the Bus have really helped to make Reading class lots of fun this month!

Kindergarten (Mrs. Perry) - Each week we have a theme for “show-and-tell” and each day a different student brings in an item to discuss that matches that theme. One week was “Something Red” and another week’s theme was “Apples.”

Pre-4 (Mrs. Walton) - Mrs. Lindauer (Mrs. Walton’s mother) comes in every Thursday morning to read to our class. This month, she read Growing Up and My Dog Talks. Our first book reports of the year were done on Froggy Goes to School (did you see them on the halway wall?).
Our Bible verses included “God saw that it was good” (Genesis 1:10) and “Before I formed you, I knew you.” (Jeremiah 1:5). In sign language, we learned to make the letter “A”.

Pre-4 (Mrs. Stump) - Each week we have a “show-and-tel” with our Letter-of-the-Week. In Science, we’re talking about the upcoming season of autumn.

Administration (Mr. Gabbert) - Everyone is invited to join us for “Prayer Warriors” on Tuesday morning at 9:00am in the church.
